Well, it’s been a long while since I’ve posted anything on DeviantArt. Life has been busy the past several years, but I’m going to try to be more active here and on other platforms once I get those accounts up. Looking at my previous journal entries, I realize this happens every few years. But, with the waves of people moving to different platforms, this might be a good chance to expand my audience and get my stories out there.
I’ve written a few short stories that were included in published anthologies, and I’ve commissioned some character art to go with some of them. Here’s a quick rundown of what I was up to.
“Persephone’s Chance” was published in “Reclamation Project: Year One,” and I wrote another story for “Reclamation Project: Year Two,” the follow-up anthology currently in development. I’m excited to jump back into the RP setting, and I’m planning to revisit my draft to make improvements based on lessons I’ve picked up over the last year.
I also received permission to repost art I commissioned of the main characters, so those will go up soon. Be sure to fave the originals, and check out the anthology if you’re looking for some solarpunk/post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure!

“Unity on the Divide” was published in “ROAR: Volume 11” where the anthology theme was innovation. Kit fox Captain Palis Ponderosa and her airship crew of fellow genetically engineered animals are transporting human prisoners of war when their ship is downed by a rogue artificial intelligence. As a machine swarm prowls the forest, the humans and animals must scavenge parts from the airship “Unity” and band together if they hope to survive.

“La Leyenda de Marisa Gritaluna” was published in the Coyotl-Award-winning anthology “Selections of Anthropomorphic Regalements: Volume 1.” The theme was fairytales and folklore, so I adapted the stories/lore around La Llorona and the ahuizotl with some modifications to make them fit my setting.
Marisa, a teenaged coyote, has her paws full tending her family home and watching her mischievous little brother Mateo while their parents are away. When Mateo gets in over his head, it’s up to Marisa to face a nightmare she realizes is more than just a legend.

I enjoyed writing these stories, and I’m thrilled to share them with readers. My productivity took a hit this year, but I’m determined to change that in 2023. There are a few projects on my radar, so I plan to make some progress over the winter break. With any luck, I’ll be able to carry that momentum well into the new year.
I hope everyone is doing well. Take care of each other and yourselves, and let’s have a great 2023.
One of my short stories, "Escape from Big Top Mountain" is available to read in the latest Werewolves Versus online 'zine issue. Issue #7 is "Werewolves Versus The Circus" and you can find the main project site here https://werewolvesversus.com/ . The downloadable issue is pay-what-you-want, with a minimum of $1. All sales are divided between the creators, so check us out and give us a download if you want to see more werewolf art and stories!
From the site:
"The mystery and danger of circuses and carnivals and travelling fairs tantalizes the wide-eyed child in us all. After all, anything could happen to you in the shadows between hastily-erected tents or in the big top's center ring. Stumble down the wrong sawdust-strewn path, and you might meet – or become – the creature of your nightmares. But don't worry! The clowns and carnies won't bother you as long as you're under the Ringmaster's yellow gaze. Stick around! The moon is rising, and the show is about to begin.
Our first issue after a year's hiatus celebrates fur and greasepaint, black canvas and blood, strongmen with secrets and the ancient spirits our festivals appease. 186 pages of werewolf artwork, stories, and poetry"

My stories are also featured in "Werewolves Versus Music," "Werewolves Versus Fascism," and "Werewolves Versus Fashion," and they all take place in the same story world I've created. Check them out! https://werewolvesversus.com/issues
Oh wow, it's been way too long since I've posted anything. I've been active, definitely writing and commissioning art based on stories or to go with stories. I'm going to try and post more frequently and start building up some awareness and hype for the projects I've been working on.
The fun news is I have two stories in the works to be published in upcoming anthologies. One is an online 'zine, the other will be in a printed book! I'm excited to share more writing and art in the coming week!
